​Auditions for the competition team are by invitation only. We believe in building the self-esteem of our students. The teachers are continually evaluating each student throughout the year to see who would do well at auditions. Teachers will recommend a student that has excellent attendance, works hard in class (not in class for socializing only), has good flexibility and technique, understands and excels at each step given in class, has good stage presence, and respects teachers and fellow students. Students that are interested in potentially being invited to our team should be enrolled in a ballet class to learn technique. We recommend other classes that help gain proper technique as well, such as jumps and turns and flexibility. We also look for how well a student retains and performs the dances, routines, and combinations given in class. Not all students are ready at the same time as their friends. Auditioning can be very stressful to the student. We prefer to invite students to audition to avoid feelings of failure in case the student is not ready.
